The cold heading plastic process for the cone - shaped ball billet is analyzed, and the evaluation indexes areestablished , such as plumpness, roundness, cold heading force and volume. The virtual orthogonal test is designed,and the reasonable process parameters are derived for the ball billet and the main dimension of the diea by the simula-tion and analysis of DEFORM. By comparison, the cold heading force of the optimized ball bilet can be reduced by35% , and wear of the dies is greatly improved.
