Prevention of common faults in the operation of machine tool spindle bearings

1. Gear transmission

       Clean the surface of the machine before inspection, and then disassemble the parts around the machine tool spindle bearing. The oil seal is a very fragile part. When disassembling carefully, do not apply excessive force. Then carefully check the oil seal and its surrounding parts. If it shows bad symptoms, be sure to replace it. A bad oil seal will cause damage to the bearing. Damaged and severe equipment shutdowns.

      Check the lubricant. Dip a little bit of lubricant and rub between your fingers. If there is contamination, you can feel it, or apply a thin layer of lubricant on the back of your hand, and then seal it for inspection.

      Replace the lubricant. After the oil-lubricated machine tool spindle bearings are purged of the old oil, fill in fresh oil and let the machine rotate for a few minutes at a low speed. Try to collect the remaining contaminants in the oil as much as possible, and then purify the oil. The oil should be filtered before use.

1) The choice of grease: The choice of grease is generally based on the speed of the spindle bearing of the machine tool, temperature resistance, noise requirements and starting torque. It requires a good understanding of the performance of various greases.

      2) Selection of bearing seal type: The lubrication of machine tool spindle bearings can be divided into oil lubrication and grease lubrication. Oil-lubricated bearings are generally selected form bearings, and grease-lubricated bearings are generally sealed with dust caps or rubber seals. The dust cover is suitable for high temperature or good use environment. The seals are divided into contact seal and non-contact seal. Contact seal has good dustproof performance but large starting torque, and non-connected seal has small starting torque but sealing performance No contact is good.

      3) Selection of bearing model: The bearing model is generally selected for machine tool spindle bearings according to the service conditions and load bearing of the supporting products. Therefore, it is necessary to know whether the actual load of the user is consistent with the selected bearing. If the bearing does not meet the requirements for use, the model should be changed as soon as possible, but unless a special product is selected, there will generally be no problems.
